EEGS' Geology and Geophysics Photo Contest
Fall Photo Contest - Vote Beginning Oct. 1!
This summer, geoscientists packed their rock hammers, notebooks, and cameras and submitted their photos to EEGS' Geology and Geophysics Photo Contest. Now, it's time to vote. We are inviting you and everyone in the EEGS community to vote for your favorites. Below are the guidelines for voting. If you have any questions, just email [email protected]. The submission period HAS CLOSED and the voting period is OPEN until October 9.
EEGS Photo Contest Voting Guidelines
Public Voting: Visitors can view and vote for their favorite photos by clicking on the "vote" button under each photo.
Voting Deadline: Public voting closes on October 9, 2026.
Results: EEGS will announce the winners for each category the week of October 15, 2026. Winning photos and runners up will be displayed at SAGEEP 2027.
Photo entries have been submitted to categories. Be sure to view all three and place your votes in each category (photos in each category are displayed under these headings). The categories are: Geophysics in Action, Geophysics/Geology in the Landscape, and Scientific Bloopers and Humor.
The top five most popular photos in each category then move to a panel to be judged on creativity, quality, originality, and adherence to the theme. Backup Judging: If there are not enough public votes, a panel will judge all entries using those same criteria.
Winners & Categories: There will be one student winner and one non-student winner in each category.
Prizes: Student winners receive a year's membership to EEGS which includes free access to GAINS. Non-student winners receive a free registration to SAGEEP 2027.
Finality & Claiming: The decisions of the judging panel are final. Prizes are transferable based on the review and approval of EEGS and must be claimed within 30 days of the winner’s notification.
Thank you for voting!
