OPENING SESSION:  AWARDS AND KEYNOTE PRESENTATION 

Awards Ceremony:  This event will feature an Awards Ceremony, where the EEGS/Near-Surface Geophysics Technical Section of The Society of Exploration Geophysicists Frank Frischknecht Leadership Award will be presented.

There are a lot of available tools in our tool boxes to understand the subsurface.  There are some key consideration to ensure the right tools are selected to aid in guiding further investigation efforts.  Upfront communication and setting expectations is critical to the success of any project.  However, the work does not stop there.  The resultant data is not always readily understood by non-geophysicist and is often perceived as “just a bunch of squiggly lines”.  To understand subsurface conditions and make data driven risk informed decisions, there needs to be good communication of the resultant data, often in the form of appropriate visualizations.  This presentation is focused on the use of geophysics, remote sensing, along with other investigation tools to aid in understanding subsurface conditions and the need to manage and visualize the resultant data in geospatial models to help evaluation and communication efforts.

Dr. Georgette Hlepas is the Principal Geotechnical Engineer for the US Army Corps of Engineers and is the lead for the Geotechnical, Geology, and Materials Community of Practice.  She is also the lead for the USACE Instrumentation and Performance Monitoring Community of Practice.   She has ~15 years of experience in geotechnical engineering and instrumentation and has worked on a variety of geotechnical projects both nationally and internationally.  She has a PhD in Civil and Materials Engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago, a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Columbia University in New York,  and is a licensed Professional Engineer in Illinois.

Location: 401 E. 20th Avenue; Denver (bounded by 20th Avenue, Tremont Place and 22nd St.)Participating exhibitors will demonstrate equipment at Benedict Fountain Park, within walking distance from the host hotel, Hilton Denver City Center Hotel.

PANEL SESSION - UNMANNED AERIAL VEHICLES (UAV) at 1:30pm 

A panel discussion (detailed description) on the current state of the practice and future developments in the application of small unmanned aerial systems for geophysical characterization of the shallow subsurface also known as the “near surface”.  Following the panel presentations, the audience is expected to participate in a question and answer opportunity - this is your chance to pose questions and hear from the experts.

PANNEL SESSION - Engineering Sustainability and Climate Change at 2:50pm

Experts from government agencies, research institutes, and the private sector discuss impacts of climate change on infrastructure and communities and engineering challenges for sustainability. 

GeOpen House @ SAGEEP

The GeOpen House is a special opportunity for the Denver and surrounding geo-community to learn about geophysics, share perspectives, and network across the aisle. Special panels and sessions will explore how geophysics can contribute to environmental and engineering challenges facing society now and in the future. Best of Near Surface 2021
Four papers from Near Surface Geoscience Conference & Exhibition 2021 by EAGE held in Bordeaux France are being presented at SAGEEP 2022 as part of exchange between EEGS and NSGD/EAGE to strengthen the bond between the organization and promote the sharing of innovative application of the environmental and engineering geophysics across the Atlantic.  Four of the best papers from SAGEEP 20022 will be invited to present at the Near Surface Geoscience Conference & Exhibition 2022 will take place on 18 - 22 September 2022 in Belgrade, Serbia.

We will be updating this space and providing signage in the SAGEEP meeting areas communicating the current requirements from local public health and government authorities.

Where To Get Your COVID-19 Test

COVIDCheck Colorado has multiple sites located throughout the state of Colorado that are available to community members and partner organizations. If you need assistance scheduling an appointment, please reach out to our customer experience team via email at [email protected] or by phone at 720-419-1087.  Please register online prior to testing to ensure our sites are open and appointments are available during the holiday/winter season.  Anyone with an appointment will be notified if their test needs to be rescheduled due to inclement weather.

VACCINATIION

There are more than a thousand vaccine providers across the state of Colorado. You can get a COVID-19 vaccine or booster at a pharmacy, doctor’s office, pop-up clinic, or mobile vaccine bus near you.  The COVID-19 vaccine is free. You don’t need ID or insurance to get vaccinated. Many providers take walk-ins and same-day appointments. You are entitled to paid time off from your job to get vaccinated and recover from any side effects.

Where To Get Your COVID-19 Vaccine

Anyone in Colorado 5 years of age or older is eligible to get the COVID-19 vaccine. There are many community locations as well as pharmacies and healthcare providers offering vaccines. No matter where you go for the vaccine, it is completely free and no health insurance or identification is needed. Here are a few ways to find a vaccine near you: 

• Call Colorado’s Vaccine Hotline to get help finding a vaccine. Call 1-877-CO VAX CO (1-877-268-2926). 
• Call a local pharmacy directly and ask about the COVID-19 vaccines. 
• Contact your personal healthcare provider/doctor. 
• Mobile COVID-19 vaccination clinics are now making stops in all four corners of the state. These clinics allow people to access the vaccine right in their home communities.
