SAGEEP 2023 Abstracts/Sessions

Call for Abstracts
The Call for Abstracts has closed.

EEGS and NAOC are collaborating to host the 35th Symposium on the Application of Geophysics to Engineering and Environmental Problems (SAGEEP) and the 2nd Munitions Response Meeting (MRM), April 2-6, 2023, the “must attend” meeting of spring 2023. Participants will pay one conference fee and attend both meetings’ sessions and poster presentations.

Click Schedule at a Glance to view (or download/print) the program and sessions currently scheduled.

The in-person conferences will feature a rich technical program, vibrant social events, professional networking opportunities, and a commercial exhibition showcasing the latest in geophysical products and services. The event brings together researchers, industry professionals, and students to share and discuss recent advancements and challenges to those who apply geophysics in the engineering, environmental, and munitions response fields.

This year, the technical program will also incorporate special sessions planned in synergy with other organizations with sessions exploring the challenges of flood control structures such as dams and levees and the use of geophysics for construction planning and life-cycle monitoring.

Please contact the meeting or technical chairs if you are interested in serving as a session chair.

Oral Presentation Requirements
Oral presentations should be PowerPoint files (or a PDF of slides), delivered in 15 minutes with 5 minutes for questions for a total of no more than 20 minutes. You do not need to follow a template for the PowerPoint presentation. You will be asked to load your PowerPoint files on a USB drive, which you will transfer to the computer in your session room prior to the beginning of the session.

Poster Presentation Requirements
The maximum poster dimension that can be accommodated is 4 feet high (48 inches, 120 cm) by 8 feet wide (96 inches, 242 cm), but smaller posters are acceptable as long as they are legible from a distance. All contextual formatting of the scientific content within the poster is flexible, with the exception that we would like you to put your Abstract Number in the upper left portion of your poster. Each board will have a 6-foot table set under it to accommodate space for the “Availability” sheets and any other documentation you would like to make available to conference attendees.

Entry to the United States
If you are from a country that requires a visa to enter the U.S., please ensure that you start the process of obtaining any required travel documents sufficiently early so that you will be able to attend the meeting. You may also contact the EEGS business office ([email protected]) for assistance with Letters of Invitation.

The Environmental and Engineering Geophysical Society (EEGS) is an applied scientific organization founded in 1992. With the mission to promote the science of geophysics especially as it is applied to environmental and engineering problems; to foster common scientific interests of geophysicists and their colleagues in other related sciences and engineering; to maintain a high professional standing among its members; and to promote fellowship and cooperation among persons interested in the science.

The National Association of Ordnance Contractors (NAOC) was established in 1995 as an industry trade association representing over 80 companies who perform munitions response services, both in the United States and internationally. NAOC’s membership collectively provides the full spectrum of munitions response services, including munitions detection, management, and disposition; site characterization and remediation; geophysical surveying and data analysis; environmental sampling and analysis; regulatory support; research and development; and related environmental/ engineering services.

NAOC’s strategic objectives are to:

  • Be the unified voice for the munitions response contracting industry
  • Partner with DoD to promote open communication and efficient, quality project execution
  • Protect and include Military Munitions Response Program (MMRP) funding
  • Be a leader in the development and application of munitions detection technology
  • Provide insight and review guidance and regulations related to explosives safety and quality procedures for munitions response
