IP SPECIAL SESSION BEST PRESENTATION AWARD AND TRAVEL TO LUND, SWEDEN:  The best presentation by a student or early career professional with research focused in induced polarization theory, basic research, applications or instrumentation will be selected.  The award includes free registration at the 7th International Workshop on Induced Polarization, an invitation to present a poster on the same research, and a $1,500 travel grant provided by Ontash & Ermac, Inc.

Short Courses:

  • SC-1:  A one-day intro to the transient electromagnetic method (TEM) for mapping of the shallow geology, overview of theory and applications.
  • SC-2: From AEM data and boreholes to geologic models. Workflow and examples.

Ice Breaker:  Enjoy food and drinks while catching up with old friends and making new acquaintances in the Exhibit Hall.

  • Awards Ceremony:  The presentation of the John Nicholl Memorial  Award: This award recognizes an individual who has made exceptional contributions to the engineering and environmental geophysics community and to EEGS.  And, this year's Early Career Award winner will receive this acknowledgement of  academic excellence and encourages research in near-surface geophysics.
  • Keynote Speaker:    David Palumbo, Deputy Commissioner, Operations for the US Bureau of Reclamation

  • SAGEEP Luncheon: Speaker: Dale Werkema, Ph.D., US Environmental Protection Agency

  • Exhibitors' Outdoor Equipment Demonstrations:  Right outside the doors of the Exhibit Hall, you will find exhibitors and their latest equipment and software.  View the demos, talk with the experts and ask your questions!   

  • Student-Industry Networking Event: - "SAGEEP a la Mode" at the Screamery (first 50 students receive their first scoop of ice cream free- (conditions apply!).  Everyone welcome.

  • Best of EAGE Near Surface 2023:  Four papers from Near Surface Geoscience Conference & Exhibition 2023 will be presented as part of an exchange between EEGS and NSGD/EAGE to strengthen the bond between the organization and promote the sharing of innovative application of the environmental and engineering geophysics across the Atlantic.  The four best papers from SAGEEP 20024 will be invited to present at the Near Surface Geoscience Conference & Exhibition 2024, taking place in September in Helsinki, Finland. 

  • Luncheon:  “Preparing for the Applied Geophysics Workforce” - Panel Discussion.  Moderator: Sarah Morton Rupert, PhD - Bureau of Reclamation
  • Conference Evening at Corbett's:  Enjoy an evening of music, a buffet meal, cocktails and sporting activities (yes, Pickleball is included - be sure to bring sneakers!) at Corbett's, 5 minutes from the Tucson Convention Center.
